Copy a sheet or item

Duplicate a sheet to another unit or category, or copy individual items between sheets.

Two related operations:

  • Copy a sheet, clone the entire sheet (items, groups, attachments, custom columns) into another scope. Useful when Unit B should start from Unit A's plumbing.
  • Copy items, pick specific items to clone from one sheet into another.

Both respect the destination's scope rules.

Copy a sheet

Open the source sheet.

Click the menu in the sheet header and choose Copy sheet.

Pick the destination, for a per-unit category, pick the destination unit; for a per-project category, the destination is the project itself.

Choose whether to overwrite the destination's existing items or append to them.

Confirm.

Copy modal
The copy modal lets you pick the destination and choose append vs overwrite.

Copy specific items

Open the source sheet.

Select rows by clicking the checkbox at the start of each row (or shift-click to range-select).

Click Copy selected in the action bar that appears at the top.

Pick the destination sheet.

Confirm.

What gets copied

Copied
Item names, classifications, notes, attribute valuesYes
Group membershipsYes (groups created in the destination if missing)
Image attachmentsYes (cloned in storage)
Per-row comments and historyNo (those stay with the source items)

Attachments

Attachment files are server-side cloned to the destination's storage area. The new items have their own copies, editing or deleting one set doesn't touch the other.

When to use which

  • Copy a sheet when the entire structure of the source applies to the destination.
  • Copy items when you want to bring a few specific lines over without disturbing the rest of the destination sheet.
  • Copy a unit when you want all of one unit's per-unit sheets at once, equivalent to copy-sheet for every per-unit category in one click.

Locked destinations

Copying into a locked sheet (one that's marked complete or in a finalised/archived project) requires a change reason, same as any other edit.
