What Specbook is

A 60-second overview of the workspace and what it's for.

Specbook is the spec management workspace your team uses to plan and document every build. Instead of juggling spreadsheets, PDFs, and email threads, you keep one source of truth per project, plus one combined Excel workbook to hand to the customer at the end.

What lives in the workspace

Projects

One project per build. Holds the address, the customer, the units, and every spec sheet.

Units

Each dwelling within a project (e.g. the two halves of a duplex). Some sheets repeat per unit; others are shared.

Spec sheets

One sheet per category per scope, Plumbing, Cabinets, Landscaping, etc. Sheets contain items you fill out as decisions get made.

Templates

Reusable starting points. Save a project's structure as a template so the next build starts fully scaffolded.

What you'll do most often

Create a project when a new build is sold.

Open spec sheets by category and fill in items as the customer makes decisions.

Attach images so suppliers and the site team see exactly what was chosen.

Mark sheets complete once the customer has signed off, this locks them, so any future change is recorded.

Share or export the workbook when the customer needs a copy.

How sheets are scoped

Some decisions only need to be made once for the whole property. Landscaping is a good example. Others are unit-specific: Plumbing fixtures in unit A may differ from unit B. Specbook models this with scope, each category is either per-project or per-unit, and you can convert from one to the other at any time. See per-project vs per-unit for the full explainer.
