Miivo workbook export

The polished Excel workbook the customer gets at handoff.

The Miivo workbook export is the modern, polished Excel workbook generated from your project's spec sheets. It's the file you send to customers, suppliers, and the site team.

Generate an export

Open the project.

Click Export in the project header.

Pick Miivo workbook as the format.

Type a version label, e.g. Final v1, Customer review draft. The label appears in the export history and on the workbook cover.

Click Generate. The export runs server-side; once ready it appears in the export list.

Click the export to download. The file is a .xlsx.

Export dialog
Pick the format and add a version label before generating.

What's in the workbook

Cover
About / Project notes
Plumbing
Cabinets
Framing
…20 categories

Each category sheet contains:

  • The sheet header (date, scope, customer-shown status).
  • Decision-maker notes from the workspace.
  • Every group, with its items.
  • Each item's columns (standard and custom).
  • Item notes in a dedicated notes column.
  • Attached images embedded at the right-margin gutter column.

Format

XLSX only. Specbook no longer generates PDF exports in any format, if you need a PDF, open the workbook in Excel or Numbers and print to PDF from there.

What ends up where

  • Per-project sheets get one section in the workbook.
  • Per-unit sheets get one section per unit, each clearly labelled.
  • Hidden columns (via customize columns) are not exported.
  • Custom columns are exported alongside standard ones.

Performance and size

Workbook generation takes from a few seconds (small project) to a couple of minutes (large project with many images). Larger workbooks have a higher file size due to embedded images. If size is a concern, consider compressing images before attaching.

Once generated, the workbook can be:

  • Downloaded directly from the export history (workspace members).
  • Made downloadable via a share link with Allow Excel download enabled.

Tips

  • Use clear version labels so the export history is scannable. "Final", "Customer signed Mar 2024", "Pre-reno revision" are all better than "v1".
  • Generate a new export after every meaningful round of changes, historical exports are how you maintain a snapshot trail.
