My attachment won't upload
Common causes for failed image uploads and how to fix them.
Most attachment upload failures fall into one of these buckets.
File too large
Attachments are capped at 10 MB per file. Larger files are rejected with a clear error.
Fix: Compress the image before uploading. Phones and modern cameras shoot well above 10 MB; resize to a reasonable resolution first. JPEG at quality 80 is usually fine for site photos.
Unsupported format
Supported: PNG, JPEG, WebP, GIF, AVIF. See attachment formats.
Most common offender: HEIC (Apple's default iPhone format). Email the photo to yourself and your phone usually converts it to JPEG; or open in Preview on Mac and export as JPEG/PNG.
Other unsupported formats: TIFF, BMP, PDF, video files.
Per-item cap reached
Each item supports a maximum of 10 attachments. If you've already uploaded 10, the modal disables further uploads.
Fix: Remove an existing attachment first, then add the new one. If you legitimately need more than 10 images on one item, consider splitting the item into two related items.
Network or session
If you've been signed in for a long time and uploads suddenly start failing, your session may have lapsed. Refresh the page; sign in again if prompted.
If your network connection is unstable, large uploads will time out. Try a smaller file or a more reliable connection.
What about HEIC specifically
The phone-camera default on iPhone is HEIC. Common ways to convert:
- Mac Preview: open the file, File → Export, choose JPEG or PNG.
- iPhone: in Settings → Camera → Formats, choose Most Compatible, new photos save as JPEG.
- Online converters: search "HEIC to JPEG", many free options.
Still failing?
- Try a small known-good file (e.g. an obvious PNG screenshot) to isolate whether it's the file or the workspace.
- Check the browser's developer console for an error message and share it with your admin.
- Contact the Miivo team if a known-good file repeatedly fails, it may be a server-side issue.
