Workspace overview
What "workspace" means here, who can do what, and the responsibilities of an admin.
A workspace is the top-level container in Specbook. It holds your projects, spec sheets, members, the catalogue, the audit log, share links, and exports. Your workspace is named Noura Homes, there's just one, and the whole team works in it.
What lives in a workspace
| Container | Holds |
|---|---|
| Workspace (just one, Noura Homes) | All projects, members, the catalogue, audit log |
| Project | Units, spec sheets, attachments, comments, share links, exports |
| Unit | Per-unit spec sheets |
| Spec sheet | Items, groups, notes |
For the broader mental model, see projects and units.
Roles at a glance
The workspace has three levels of access:
- Owner, full access, including managing other Admins. Reserved for whoever set the workspace up; not assignable from the Members page.
- Admin, view and edit every project, fill out spec sheets, attach images, generate exports, create share links, manage catalogue entries, invite new members, see the audit log.
- Viewer, read-only access on assigned projects. Can leave comments but can't edit data, change statuses, or run exports.
For the click paths, see members and roles and permissions.
What admins typically do
- Onboard new team members, send invitations, watch them get accepted, follow up on bounced emails.
- Curate the catalogue, periodically de-duplicate entries, retire stale ones, add new suppliers.
- Review the audit log, spot patterns in change reasons, audit completion turnarounds.
- Restore soft-deleted projects when someone needs one back.
- Maintain the template library, keep the team's shared starting points fresh.
What admins don't have to do day-to-day
- Approve every project change. The workspace doesn't have an approval step. Editing is governed by statuses and change reasons, not admin sign-off.
- Open every export. Members can generate exports themselves.
- Manage every share link. Members can create their own.
Admin is a "trust the team but watch the trail" role.
Single-workspace deployment
This Specbook deployment runs as a single workspace. There's no multi-workspace switching and no joining other workspaces from this account. If you're invited to anything else, that's a separate sign-in entirely.
